MY ROLE

My role is to care about heritage values and to address your project needs. The initial stages for most project types involves gaining an understanding of the place:

  • researching the listing citation and previously assessed heritage significance of the place. This could include reviewing a previously prepared heritage conservation management plan
  • reviewing the proposed changes and other project objectives, including for development approval
  • inspecting the place, noting the existing context, conditions, opportunities and where possible, the changes since listing
  • assessing the likely impact, if any on the significance of the item, its curtilage, associated sight lines or to any ongoing appreciation for and understanding of the place
  • co-ordinate the inputs from your other consultants when appropriate. For example- surveyor, archaeologist, academic historian or structural engineer

Clients have included the property owners; property managers; architects; builders; urban planners; project managers; local councils including Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Cessnock; NSW National Parks & Wildlife Services (lighthouse precincts); LL Retirement Living; Anglican Church; NSW Health; Catholic Schools; the local mosque and others.
